Horse racing betting

Placing a bet makes even more exciting the sport of horse racing. Bets can be placed online as well as on the racetrack. Many horse-wagering enthusiasts have hit the big price betting just $1! But you need to know how to bet before placing your bets and start winning. After reading this, you'll be ready to hit the track and get into the world of racetrack betting.

Examples of horse racing bets:

Daily Double: Your bet must be placed before the start of the first race. You must pick the first and second race winners. To bet you say "2 dollars daily double on 3 and 5", 3 and 5 being your picks on both races, respectively..

Exacta: This type of horse racing bet is also known as perfecta, you must know which horses will finish first and second on the race. You must pick the exact order otherwise you lose.

Ehorse Quiniela: you must pick 2 of the 3 top finishers of the race. You can win with any combination. eHorse Quinella races must have a minimum of seven runners. This type of wager is only available at ehorse.com our recommended horse betting site.

Quiniela: Similar to exacta, in Quiniela you also pick first and second horses but either order is O.K "2 dollars quiniela, numbers 5 and 6" for example.

Quiniela Box: Picking three or more horses, any two of your selections must finish first and second. "2 dollars quiniela box on 4, 5 and 6". You are making three separate bets so based on this 2 dollars your minimum bet is $6. You can box three as minimum or as many as the field.

Quiniela Double: You must win 2 consecutive Quinielas. Select two horses to win and place, in either order, in each of the last two races. To win your Quiniela Double you must win both quinielas.

Quiniela Wheel: You pick a horse and combine it with the other. Based on the $2 value, the total cost of a wheel with say, 6 other horses is $12. For example; if you wheel #2 with 6 other horses in the same race and #2 comes in first or second, you win because you have all the 6 combinations covered.

Perfecta Box: As a quiniela box, but the two horses must finish in the exact order. To bet you say "$2 perfecta box on 4,5 and 6". You are making six separate bets so your minimum bet is $12. With Perfecta Box, for each extra horse you add to the box the possible combinations get compunded and your number of bets increases accordingly. A "$2 perfecta box on 4 horses" will cost you $24 (12 bets), a "$2 perfecta box on 5 horses" $40 (20 bets), and a "$2 perfecta box on 6 horses " $60 (30 bets).

Pick Six: This bet could be a pick 6,7,8 and so forth. When you place this bet, you pick the winners of all the races. As you can imagine, it has a very nice payoff when you win.

Show: There’s nothing wrong with coming in third, unless it’s a three horse race. If your horse comes in first, second or third, you are paid the “Show” rate. This wager is technically called a “Show Bet.”

Straight Trifecta: Pick the first three horses to cross the finish line in exact order. To bet you say "$2 trifecta numbers 7,4 and 5". Only if they finish 7-4-5 you win.

$1 Trifecta Box: Pick three horses to finish first, second and third, in any order. To bet you say "$1 trifecta box 2,3 and 5". You are actually making six $1 bets, so your total bet is $6. If they finish 2-3-5, 2-5-3, 3-2-5, 3-5-2, 5-2-3 or 5-3-2; you win.

$1 Trifecta Key: Pick your favorite horse to win, then two or more others to place and show in any order. To bet you say "$1 trifecta key on 1 with 2 and 3". You are actually making two $1 bets so your total bet is $2. To win your Key horse must win and the other two must finish either 1-2-3 or 1-3-2.

Superfecta: The straight superfecta is played by picking the first four horses to finish in exact order. To bet you say "$2 straight superfecta 1-3-2-8". You would collect if the race finishes exactly 1-3-2-8.

Win: This option is pretty self-evident. You are betting the horse to win the race. If you are correct, your ticket will be paid the “Win” rate for the horse. This wager is technically called a “Win Bet.”

Around the world different racing tracks and countries may use different rules for the bets, it's better to confirm with the bookmaker or your online betting site to see what types of horse racing bets you can play with them.
